We’ve all heard of the law of attraction, and by now most of us have also heard that the LOA doesn’t work on its own. Long before The Secret exploded in the new age movement, there was another hidden jewel: The Kybalion, written by anonymous authors under the pseudonym “Three Initiates”, published in 1908. It is a translated transmutation of the seven Hermetic principles, an extension of ancient wisdom from Greece and Egypt, as both cultures had fused under two Gods: Hermes (Greek) and Thoth (Egyptian). Within these pages are mystical guidelines for creating the life you desire as if we are modern-day alchemists, as the book suggests.
No, it is not the original sacred text written by Hermes Trismegistus himself or some ancient civilization that handed this exact knowledge down to humanity, but to be honest, I personally don’t believe that any text from thousands or even millions of years ago is floating around today in its original form— not in the same paper, same language, or same interpretation. In fact, maybe the first inscriptions were carved into stone without an alphabet— or maybe not. Maybe spiritual messages were imprinted into the minds of people through dreams, visions, and intuitive knowings like that of Witches and Oracles, and so you can’t even see proof of instruction unless it’s felt individually. We’ll come back to that later.
What I like about the Seven Hermetic Principles is that intuitively, they feel right. Perhaps the “Three Initiates” didn’t feed us the entire entree, but with the amount of breadcrumbs they did leave behind, it’s enough to lead us down the yellow brick road to something far greater than we thought possible.
How powerful are you? How powerful are we? The first law of mentalism offers a glimpse.
